We transformed an automotive repair garage, south of the Meatpacking District in Manhattan, into a collection of fashion-photography studios. We used the existing automobile ramp for all circulation, and embraced the wooden-truss-arched construction of the building in shaping the large studios. Working in the spirit of the building, we used industrial materials and products throughout. Curved “cycloramas” were built for photography; existing concrete floors were polished and retained for their durability.
