In-store showrooms and freestanding boutiques, located in London, Milan, Tokyo, Jakarta, Singapore, New York, and Hong Kong; sell cK, Calvin Klein's line for casual wear, jeans, cosmetics, eyewear, and of course, underwear.
DBPA designed a complete retail environment by developing a 'kit of parts' - architectural finishes, fixtures, furniture, lighting, display systems, packaging, signage, and video - that would give architectural identity to cK stores while remaining flexible to diverse spatial configurations. By urns spare and dense, cK's environmental design emphasizes richness and clarity of connection among materials. Using limestone or concrete flooring, steel baseboards, white walls, steel angle wall brackets and table bases, and shelving made of glass or wood; each element is detailed to demonstrate, the nature of its materials and techniques of assembly. Display fixtures define interlocking spaces that create and suggest a path through the store. A small yellow box or the vermilion linen of a sofa challenge and reinforce the serenity and integrity of the cK environment. |
