At the western end of Anguilla, an island in the British West Indies, the Cerulean
Estate, with its whitewashed masonry walls and look-out tower, sits directly
on the sands of Barnes Bay. A 13,000 square foot exclusive inn, composed
of simple geometric forms, is set on an acre of landscaped gardens.
The client requested a distinct image as part of the program. Accordingly,
we specified teak lattices, sunshades, domed bedrooms, Moroccan tiles, and
stone terraces. The site plan emphasizes the privacy of the seven bedroom
suites. The compound includes two living rooms, a formal and an 'al fresco'
dining area, a tennis court, and a large swimming pool carefully integrated
into terracing to create a varied topography. |
