Great spaces express their best qualities with personality. Caroline sees design as diverse and delightful expressions of personality too: bold in concept and forever at ease with the grandeur of a great space. To Caroline, the emergence of a design’s personality is a slow process that draws on unexpected inputs and intuitions. It’s like falling in love:

“In my childhood I loved going to my grandparent’s house– a cornucopia of colors and styles. My Nana collected all things decorative for the home, she and I would go to auctions and antique stores where I would watch her while she fell in love…”

Caroline’s projects reflect our clients as well. She excels in finding the perfect balance between our clients’ personalities and the firm’s elegantly rich and refined vision. Caroline’s most notable interiors, for 432 Park Avenue, the Upper East Side Townhouse, and for the West Chelsea Apartment present that balance between client and designer. Strong, with bold and unexpected bursts of texture, pattern, and color, they reveal another balance: how our interior design works with our architecture and completes the “whole vision” we offer our private residential houses and apartments.

Caroline received a B.S. from Wheelock College, and an M.S. in Environmental Design from Pratt Institute. She joined Deborah Berke Partners in 1998 and became a Principal in TenBerke in 2019.
