21c Museum Hotels Brings Penguins to Durham

March 16, 2015

Our latest 21c Museum Hotel opened today in Durham, North Carolina. 21c Museum Hotel Durham is housed in the historic Hill Building, designed by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon, the architects of the Empire State Building. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hill Building is a 17-story skyscraper built in 1937 in a restrained Art Deco style.

Like our past 21c Museum Hotels, the project is at once a boutique hotel, museum of 21st century art, restaurant, gathering place, and catalyst for the downtown’s cultural and economic growth. In our role as design architect and interior designer, we sought to maintain the glamour of the Art Deco character throughout, while introducing 21st century design. Learn more about the property here.

Congratulations to 21c Museum Hotels, the whole project team, and our Bull City friends!
